Itinerary
In the early morning, your driver will pick you up from your hotel or the airport and provide a briefing before heading towards Murchison Falls in northern Uganda. En route, you’ll make a special stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to witness rhinos, a vital part of the Big Five that are not found in Murchison Falls National Park. Enjoy an immersive trek around the sanctuary on foot, gaining close-up views of these magnificent creatures.
Lunch will be served at the sanctuary, allowing for a moment of relaxation before continuing your journey to Murchison Falls. Arrive in the evening and check in at your lodge. Your safari guide will then lead you on an exhilarating evening game drive in Murchison Falls National Park, where you’ll search for iconic wildlife such as lions, hyenas, and leopards. Return to the lodge for a well-deserved relaxation and a sumptuous dinner.
After an early morning tea or coffee to start your day, you'll transfer to the northern bank of Murchison Falls National Park for an exhilarating game drive. Here, you’ll search for a diverse array of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, oribis, elephants, Jackson’s hartebeests, Uganda kobs, and buffaloes, as well as a variety of bird species.
Return to the lodge for a delightful lunch and some relaxation, gearing up for the afternoon’s adventure. Following lunch, set off for a scenic 3-hour boat ride on the Nile River, heading towards the base of the falls. As you glide along the river, observe crocodiles and hippos in the water, and watch for buffaloes, waterbucks, and elephants grazing or drinking along the riverbanks.
Upon reaching the falls, disembark and take a hike to the top for a breathtaking view of the powerful Murchison Falls. After your hike, return to your lodge for a tranquil evening, where you can unwind with dinner and an overnight stay.
On this day, set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park, with lunch served along the way. Your scenic road trip will take you through picturesque African villages, rolling green hills, lush tea plantations, banana farms, and charming homesteads. Arrive at the lodge in the late evening, with the option of embarking on an evening game drive if time permits.
Start your day with an early breakfast before heading out for a morning trek to see chimpanzees in Kalinzu Forest. After a briefing on the guidelines for chimpanzee trekking, you'll embark on a forest hike, offering you the chance to observe these primates in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. You'll have the opportunity to view large herds of elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and crocodiles, as well as spot a variety of bird species, including the rare shoe bill.
On your way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you’ll transfer through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. As you explore this expansive savannah, home to topis and African elephants, keep an eye out for lions lounging high in the fig tree branches. Enjoy lunch in Ishasha before continuing your journey to Bwindi. Along the way, you'll witness a dramatic shift in the landscape from flat savanna to cultivated hills, eventually leading to the lush, jungle-covered mountains of Bwindi.
Begin your day with an early breakfast before taking a short drive to the briefing point for your gorilla trekking adventure. This highlight of your tour involves a trek through the rainforest and bamboo-covered slopes, accompanied by a ranger guide and fellow trackers, as you search for mountain gorillas. Depending on the gorilla family you’re assigned to visit, the trek can take between 3 to 6 hours.
Though the trek can be challenging, any fatigue will fade away as you catch a glimpse of the majestic silverback gorillas. Due to the nature of the trek, you’ll enjoy a packed lunch amidst the forest. Afterward, return to your lodge to relax. In the evening, embark on a Batwa community walk to meet the Batwa pygmies, an indigenous group with a rich history in the forest, and experience their traditional dances. Conclude your day with a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the boat ride to the mainland. You will later get set to Kampala with a stopover along the way for lunch and at the Equator to take photographs and purchase some souvenirs. After your lunch, you will continue to Kampala or Entebbe Airport.
